A Typical Day At Cakes by Robin

Robin

We often get asked about how our cakes get made and what a working day looks like at Cakes by Robin. With that in mind we chose a typical week full of cakes and sugary creations to tell you about.

Our 3 cake decorators come in very early to get baking at about 7am (Robin doesn’t surface until 9am!) We start off each week by making large batches of chocolate fudge and buttercream of various flavours which we use in between the layers of cake. Each week we make between 15 and 40 cakes depending on the season and this uses up to 400 eggs, 25kg of butter and sugar and the same again of flour. Everything is baked and created on the premises so it can get very hot with the baking ovens on full blast all day. It’s nice and cosy in the winter though!

A typical week at Cakes by Robin will include all manner of cakey creations from stunning 4 tier wedding cakes to Legomen, to Lion King extravaganzas to huge batches of corporate cookies. No day is ever the same and the team relish the exciting ideas our customers come up with each week.

The start of the week focuses on baking and preparing for the decorating that usually starts early on Wednesday.

This week has been dominated by an early peak of wedding season but in addition to 5 large wedding cakes we have had a Hungry Caterpillar, 2 Peppa Pigs, a skate board, a huge Jake and the Neverland pirate ship with all the characters, a skinny dipper cake, a jungle monkey and numerous buttercream cakes for those who aren’t keen on icing.

So it’s never a dull week at Cakes by Robin! We love a challenge so get in touch with your ideas for creative cake creations and we’ll get to work.
