Sports Themed Cakes

It might have been an entire year since the London 2012 Olympics (doesn’t time fly?) but the sporting world never sleeps. There is always something going on, whether it’s the World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Ashes or Wimbledon, and this keeps the inspiration for sports-themed cakes ticking over through the whole year.

We never fail to be impressed by the ideas our clients come up with, and we love the chance to exercise our creative flair with a selection of vibrant, fun cake designs.

As always, we are able to create something complex and intricate, like those above, or something a little more simple. One of the cakes above incorporates the lucky recipient’s three hobbies: hockey, fishing and cricket. To do this, we placed giant sporting equipment along a riverbank with lots of little fish peeking out ready to be caught. The swimming pool cake features a little girl swimming in a pool, and doing a very good job of it by the looks of things! She certainly won’t be needing those iced rubber rings we’ve placed along the side of the pool, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Above, we have our more simple models, but that doesn’t make them any less impressive. We’re able to make cakes based on one particular sport, like this fabulous cricket cake, or based on your favourite team. For example, we have this Chelsea football cake for the footie fan (the team can, of course, be customised to match your tribe) and this rather stylish sporting shirt which can be personalised with the name, number and team of your choice.

We’re no newcomers to the sporting scene when it comes to cake though – remember this David Luiz birthday cake with a sugar model of the man himself?
